SHENFIELD AND HUTTON (MORNING)

We meet on the second Thursday each month, with the exception of August, in Shenfield Parish Hall, Hutton Road, Shenfield, commencing at 9.30 a.m. We have speakers on a variety of subjects. We are a friendly group and welcome new members and visitors.

We formed in 1981 and celebrate our birthday every year with cake and wine. For our special birthdays we have a meal followed by an after dinner speaker.

A cookery book was published in February 2008 and five of our members have had their recipes accepted for inclusion in it.

Unfortunately we were not able to get all the ladies together at one time.

Pictured with their recipe books are: Janet Peak, Margaret Rivett and Val Brooks.

The other two ladies who had their recipes accepted were Vicky Lansdell and Brenda Major

We have walks once a month during the better weather, usually starting in March and going through to November. These are usually about 4 miles long and we usually finish with lunch at a nearby public house. We will, however, take part in one walk 6 miles long during the year for the more dedicated walkers.
During the year there will be three coach outings. In May we are going to St Albans where we will have a guided walk, visit the museum and Abbey. In July we are going to Layer Marney and the 3rd outing in September will involve going on a steam train

A group of 25 ladies are going to see Calendar girls at
the Noel Coward Theatre in April.

Our charity for 2008/2009 is Little Haven Children's Hospice.  The charity for 2006 and 2007  was the Essex Air Ambulance. We held a Quiz night to help raise funds for the Essex Air Ambulance. Total raised during 2007 was £650.

Each W.I. is a member of a Group and we belong to the Windmill Group. There are six W.I.'s in this Group. Every year one W.I. convenes a meeting.
