BERDEN W.I.

Welcome to Berden WI ~ A chance to meet new friends and hear some interesting speakers

Berden WI was formed in 2003 and meets at 7.45pm on the first Tuesday of the month in Berden Village Hall

We are a very friendly group of ladies who enjoy our monthly meetings which begin with news updates, followed by a speaker. The subjects are many and varied to reflect the different interests of members and we try to ring the changes by having demonstrations and craft-related speakers as well as presentations and talks. At the end of the meeting we have time to exchange news with other members over refreshments. In July we have a car rally which includes husbands and friends and where the final clue always leads us somewhere which provides supper after all our hard work in solving the clues. August is the month when we meet in a member's garden to make the most of the long summer evenings.

WI membership allows us to share group activities with other local WIs and we belong to the Stansted Spring Group and the Audley Activities Group which allows us to meet up with and enjoy the company of other WI members who live in nearby villages. We also have the opportunity to join with both Essex and national members for meetings and outings and can attend courses covering many activities locally and at Denman College, the residential WI College in Oxfordshire.

New members are always very welcome so why not come and join us? You do not have to live in Berden to be a member; we would be pleased to welcome members from the surrounding villages without a WI of their own. The annual subscription entitles you to attend all meetings, receive Essex News and WI Life magazine and enjoy outings (at additional cost). Guests and visitors are also welcome at our meeting, just come along to the Village Hall on the first Tuesday of the month; we will be delighted to meet and get to know you.

If you would like to speak to a member first or would like more information about our WI then please contact our President, Ulla Flowers, on 01279 777994 or our Secretary, Yvonne Smith, on 01279 777623.
