The BBC has begun its search for contestants for the 2009 series of Mastermind. This time we are concentrating some of our efforts on attracting new women to the programme – many of whom are busy juggling so many other things in their life that they may not get to see some of our other attempts to recruit new contestants.

Considered by some to be the mother of all quiz shows, Mastermind’s first three cerebral champions were all women. However, after an early lead, the torrent of female victors ebbed away. The BBC production team are now recruiting for the 2009 series and we would like to hear from women applicants. There is no money – just the kudos of being recognised as the UK’s Mastermind – that and a Caithness Glass Trophy.

If you or your members would like to discuss the recruitment process in more detail, then please contact Sarah Barker on 0161 244 3118. Alternatively I can be contacted by email – sarah.barker@bbc.co.uk.

Thank you in advance for your help
.
